A Call for Peaceful Conduct During Elections in Kaura-Namoda.

Image
By Comrade Abdullahi Lawal Bungudu I wish to use this medium to appeal to the good people of Kaura-Namoda Local Government Area—especially in the wards where elections are scheduled to take place—to conduct themselves peacefully, maturely, and responsibly throughout the entire electoral process. Elections will come and go, but our relationships as neighbors, friends, and family will endure. Let us not allow political differences to break the unity and trust we have built over generations. Let us put Zamfara first, because it is the only state we can truly call our own. Violence, hate speech, and electoral malpractice will only set us back. May peace, understanding, and progress reign in Kaura-Namoda and all parts of Zamfara State, now and always. Long live Kaura-Namoda! Long live Zamfara State! Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!

An Urgent Call to Authorities on Graduation Celebrations

Image
By Abdullahi Lawal Bungudu I wish to draw the urgent attention of the Zamfara State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, the Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB), the Ministry for Religious Affairs, and all school principals across the state, regarding the manner in which graduation ceremonies are now being conducted in our schools. It has become increasingly alarming that these celebrations—particularly those involving our young children—are gradually drifting away from the ethical, cultural, and religious standards expected in our society. In many instances, the interactions between boys and girls during such events are inappropriate, and contradict the moral values and teachings of Islam. This worrisome trend, if left unchecked, threatens to erode the moral foundation we strive to instill in our children through both formal education and religious upbringing. Graduation ceremonies should be moments of pride and reflection, not occasions for moral laxity and cultura...

Position Paper on the 2025 Constitutional Review

Image
By Abdullahi Lawal Bungudu, Executive Director, Health Standard Concern (HESCO). As Nigeria approaches a defining moment in its constitutional evolution, it is vital that the 2025 Constitutional Review reflects the aspirations of the people and promotes justice, equity, and effective governance. The following recommendations are hereby submitted as priority areas for consideration: 1. Guarantee Women’s Inclusion in Governance. The Constitution should include explicit provisions mandating a minimum of 35% affirmative action for women in both elective and appointive offices. No nation can attain inclusive growth while marginalizing half of its population. Institutionalizing gender equity in governance is not only a matter of fairness but a constitutional and developmental necessity. 2. Full Autonomy for Local Governments . The Constitution must guarantee full financial and administrative autonomy for local governments. As the tier of government closest to the people, local governme...

He described the situation as unfair and detrimental to the well-being of the masses, particularly those already grappling with the rising cost of living. "The prices of many goods have gone down, but some traders are yet to reduce their prices accordingly. This is an act of injustice against the people," he stated. Dansadau is Breathing Again — But Cautiously.

Image
By Mohammed Kabir For the first time since last year, there’s a quiet shift in Dansadau. People are returning to their farms. You can hear the sounds of hoes on the ground, children following their parents into the fields and neighbours greeting each other with cautious smiles. But this peace didn’t come from the government or security forces. According to locals, one of the bandit leaders told his men to allow people to farm. That’s all it took a single voice, not from the authorities but from one of those who always spread fear. It feels good to see life returning. Farming is the heartbeat of this community. Without it, there’s no survival. So yes, people are hopeful but they’re also alert. This isn’t lasting peace. It’s a break. A chance and everyone knows it. The road from Gusau to Dansadau still isn’t safe. You can’t travel it without military escort. That fact alone reminds us how unstable things still are. Just because the guns are quiet today doesn’t mean they won’t speak...

Mustafa Jafaru’s Nuisance – A Call to Order

Image
Opinion   The recent outburst by Mustafa Jafaru Kaura accusing former Governor Bello Matawalle of colluding with bandits in the GSS Kankara school abduction is not only baseless but also reckless and inflammatory. At a time when we should be united in tackling the deepening security crisis in our state, such unfounded statements only serve as a political nuisance and distraction from the real issues affecting the lives of ordinary Zamfara citizens. Mustafa Jafaru must be called to order. Public discourse, especially on matters of national security must be guided by responsibility, facts, and a genuine desire to protect the people not by personal or political vendettas. Playing politics with the lives of people is both insensitive and dangerous. If Mr. Jafaru is genuinely concerned about the state of security, he should advise his paymasters to focus more on practical steps to curb banditry and terrorism in Zamfara and beyond. Leadership is not about pointing fingers, it is a...

Dansadau Emirate: The Forgotten Kingdom

Image
Dansadau is not just a name on a map—it is a land blessed by God. Dansadau garin Allah. Yet today, it stands abandoned, its beauty buried beneath fear, silence, and neglect. Insecurity has become the bitter reality for the people of Dansadau. Bandits roam freely, families are torn apart, and entire communities live in fear. Once fertile farmlands now lie empty, and the roads echo with the absence of footsteps that once bustled with life. But the pain doesn’t end with insecurity. There is no electricity to light homes. No clean water to drink. No good roads to travel. Hospitals are far, and schools are crumbling. What was once a proud emirate is now left to struggle on its own. The government has turned its back. The promises are many, but the actions are few. While others move forward, Dansadau is being forgotten. Still, the people endure. With faith. With strength. With hope that one day, someone will hear their cries and remember this sacred land—Dansadau garin Allah. May Almig...

Dauda Lawal: Two Years of Wasted Time and Broken Promises in Zamfara.

Image
It’s been two years since Governor Dauda Lawal took the reins of Zamfara State amid soaring hopes and bold campaign promises. Today, many residents are asking one simple question: What has changed? The honest answer, for many, is very little except the growing list of failed promises. When Lawal promised to “end banditry and restore peace,” it struck a chord with war-weary citizens. But two years in, rural communities remain under siege. From Maru to Shinkafi, attacks persist, kidnappings continue, and farms lie abandoned. His so-called “community policing” strategy has been nothing more than press conferences and photo-ops. Security in Zamfara is still a nightmare—and his silence on recent killings in Zurmi  The promise of revitalizing education in Zamfara sounded hopeful—until the budget revealed otherwise. Schools remain poorly funded, teachers unpaid, and students unmotivated. The much-hyped "Education Revival Project" has delivered nothing tangible. Pupils still sit on...

Insecurity in Zamfara: The Silent Crises in Dansadau Emirate

Image
The Dansadau Emirate in Maru local government is under siege not by foreign invaders but by the relentless grip of insecurity. Along the Gusau–Magami–Dansadau road, fear now walks freely where people once moved with peace and purpose. What was once a lifeline for commerce and daily life has become a corridor of terror. As someone with roots in this emirate, I can no longer stay silent. Families are torn apart, lives are lost daily, and the hope of a better tomorrow is fading. Innocent farmers, traders, children, and the elderly are living in constant fear of bandits who roam unchecked. The cries from our communities echo through the forests, yet they are met with deafening silence from those in power. We are not asking for miracles only for the most basic responsibility of any government: security. The people of Dansadau emirate deserve to live without fear, to farm their land, to send their children to school, and to travel safely within their own state. This is a call to the re...
