Behind PDP’s propaganda lies the pain of defeat.

By Mohammed Kabir A.

The press conference by the Zamfara PDP is nothing but a desperate attempt to cover up their defeat in the Kaura Namoda South bye-election. Rather than accepting the will of the people, the PDP has resorted to fabricating lies against security agencies, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and even the Nigerian military.

First, their allegation that the military was “deployed to intimidate voters” is baseless. Security personnel were stationed at polling units to prevent the kind of thuggery, ballot snatching, and violence that the PDP itself is notorious for in Zamfara elections. The claim that the army was “inside polling centres” lacks proof and is a deliberate distortion of reality.

Second, their attempt to drag the Nigerian military into partisan politics is both reckless and dangerous. The same military they are maligning has sacrificed lives daily to protect communities from bandits. For PDP to compare the fight against banditry with election security is irresponsible and an insult to the gallant officers who risk their lives for Nigeria’s unity.

Third, the PDP’s claim that “bandit warlords were used to threaten voters” is not only laughable but exposes their mindset of always seeking excuses when they lose. If they have any evidence, they should present it before INEC and the election tribunal instead of issuing emotional statements to mislead the public.

Fourth, their narrative that “APC has lost support in Zamfara and beyond” collapses when compared with reality. The people of Kaura Namoda South came out, voted, and chose APC. PDP’s rejection by the electorate is proof that Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration is already losing touch with the people.

Finally, the PDP should be reminded that democracy is about the ballot, not propaganda. Instead of crying wolf and attacking institutions, they should focus on delivering good governance in Zamfara. The people have spoken through their votes, and no amount of press conferences can change the outcome of the election.
