CSACEFA Urges Greater Investment in Teachers’ Welfare as Zamfara Marks World Teachers’ Day

GUSAU, October 5, 2025 — The Civil Society Action Coalition on Education for All (CSACEFA), Zamfara State Chapter, has called on the state government and education stakeholders to prioritize teacher welfare, recruitment, and professional development as the world marks this year’s World Teachers’ Day themed “Recasting Teaching as a Collaborative Profession.”

In a statement signed by its State Coordinator, Abdullahi Lawali Bungudu, CSACEFA commended teachers across Zamfara for their resilience and commitment to nurturing young minds despite facing insecurity, poor facilities, delayed salaries, and limited training opportunities.

Bungudu noted that teachers remain the foundation of the education system and the key drivers of national development. He urged the state government to ensure prompt payment of salaries and allowances, expand recruitment, and provide regular training to enhance teacher performance.

He also emphasized the need for safe and inclusive schools, calling for stronger collaboration between education and security agencies to guarantee the safety of teachers and learners.

CSACEFA further advocated for adequate teaching materials and effective monitoring systems to ensure that education resources reach classrooms where they are most needed.

“As we celebrate our teachers today, all stakeholders — government, development partners, parents, traditional leaders, and the private sector — must work together to uplift the teaching profession,” Bungudu said. “The quality of education cannot rise above the quality of its teachers.”

He reaffirmed CSACEFA’s commitment to supporting initiatives that value, empower, and protect teachers as essential agents of peace, development, and transformation in Zamfara and across Nigeria.
