Dansadau is Breathing Again — But Cautiously.

Image
By Mohammed Kabir For the first time since last year, there’s a quiet shift in Dansadau. People are returning to their farms. You can hear the sounds of hoes on the ground, children following their parents into the fields and neighbours greeting each other with cautious smiles. But this peace didn’t come from the government or security forces. According to locals, one of the bandit leaders told his men to allow people to farm. That’s all it took a single voice, not from the authorities but from one of those who always spread fear. It feels good to see life returning. Farming is the heartbeat of this community. Without it, there’s no survival. So yes, people are hopeful but they’re also alert. This isn’t lasting peace. It’s a break. A chance and everyone knows it. The road from Gusau to Dansadau still isn’t safe. You can’t travel it without military escort. That fact alone reminds us how unstable things still are. Just because the guns are quiet today doesn’t mean they won’t speak...

Mustafa Jafaru’s Nuisance – A Call to Order

Image
Opinion   The recent outburst by Mustafa Jafaru Kaura accusing former Governor Bello Matawalle of colluding with bandits in the GSS Kankara school abduction is not only baseless but also reckless and inflammatory. At a time when we should be united in tackling the deepening security crisis in our state, such unfounded statements only serve as a political nuisance and distraction from the real issues affecting the lives of ordinary Zamfara citizens. Mustafa Jafaru must be called to order. Public discourse, especially on matters of national security must be guided by responsibility, facts, and a genuine desire to protect the people not by personal or political vendettas. Playing politics with the lives of people is both insensitive and dangerous. If Mr. Jafaru is genuinely concerned about the state of security, he should advise his paymasters to focus more on practical steps to curb banditry and terrorism in Zamfara and beyond. Leadership is not about pointing fingers, it is a...
