RE: DESTRUCTION OF LAWALI IZALA RESIDENCE BY THE DIRECTORATE OF HOUSING AND TOWN PLANNING.
By Bello Ibrahim Gusau
It was Yesterday Morning People gazed Men of Department of Housing and Town Planning at the residence of One Lawali Izala of Maradun in Maradun local Government area, who are there to carryout their Primary responsibilities.
It is a Common Knowledge to everyone that before you erect a new building you must follow due process and secure a permission to do so, that was the reason why we have Directorate of Housing and Town Planning, Whose main responsibility is to ensure any body who want to erect a new building must have their approval before doing so.
Some People think the demolition of Lawali Izala residence as something that has to do with politics, but the destruction was not Politically Motivated but Contravening the Provisions of State Urban and Regional Planning development law.
Lawali Izala didn't follow due process to secure a permission to erect his building, so after the department of town planning observed that illegal building, they served Lawali Izala with a one month notice to appear before it for Questioning or to render his building Permit with regards to his residence which was built illegally, but very unfortunately Izala fails to appear before the directorate for a reason best known to him up till the one month notice elapse.
Similarly, the department Seal/Mark the building but Izala illegally removed the Mark which is an offence and it attracts severe punishment, because it is punishable under Building and Town planning law.
With the aforementioned reasons, the department of Housing and Town Planning is accorded with full right to demolish or destruct any building lay down by any person without permit.
This was the real fact behind the reason for the destruction of Lawali Izala residence but not Politically Motivated as some people are saying.
