OPEN LETTER TO GOVERNOR BELLO MATAWALLE

By Suleman Umar Ma'aji Dansadau.

With due respect and regards to all in your cabinet, I am constrained to write to you this open letter. I decided to make it an open letter because the issue is very weighty and must be greatly worrisome to all concerned Citizen of Zamfara and that means all right-thinking Zamfara indigenes and those resident in Zamfara. Since the issue is of momentous concern to all well-meaning and right-thinking Nigerians, it must be of great concern to you, and collective thinking and dialoguing is the best way of finding an appropriate and adequate solution to the problem.

I have never been timid or shy of my total support for the success of your administration to deliver my dear state to the Promised Land.  My confidence had always been based on Your Excellency’s ability, fitness and competence in leading the Zamfara to the next level, where law and order prevail, individual liberty is guaranteed, economic well-being of the citizens is assured.

Nevertheless my confidence in Your Excellency remains unshaken to date. In recent time however, I am worried about the security situation in the Zamfara state, especially in the Maru south constituency (Dansadau Emirate Council),This has to do with the incessant and increasing menace of Fulani herdsmen that have laid siege in almost all the local ways that connect our villages with state capital.

Sir, be informed   that menace of these cattle herdsmen with such assault like raping of our women and in some occasions, in the presence of their husbands. That is apart from massive destruction of our agricultural lands; which ultimately points to imminent starvation. On top of it all is the menace of professional kidnappers usually in military uniforms. What is more worrisome about the kidnapping notoriety is what looks like impunity which these kidnappers enjoy their nefarious activities. Worse still is the confidence with which they demand ransoms and collect such illegal levies at designated spots without any arm of security being able to lay siege on them as it was the practice in the recent past. Now, we cannot even talk of parading suspects, when in actual sense, no major arrests have been made in this part of the Zamfara state.

The contents of this letter, therefore, should be available to all those who can help in proffering effective solutions for the problem of insecurity   in my dear constituency and Zamfara in general.

The following are details of some criminal activities conducted by suspected Fulani herdsmen in my kingdom:

1. Dankurmi Attack resulted lost of lives and properties.

2. Blocking of Dansadau-Magami to Gusau road and collect Money from our businessmen.

3. Kidnapping of Ibrahim Attahiru (Aba Lamba) and Alh. Abubakar Jibrin.

4. Illegal movement of Fulani herds with fire arms in our settlement. Example they Enter Dangurgu, Maiawaki, babbar doka and Yan sawayu village openly with their arms.

5. Destruction of farm product in several places.

All the above mentioned happened within a week, so we hope government will come to our aid.

Finally I hope my letter will meet you in a very good condition and address the problem in time before it gets out of hand.
