DAUDA LAWAL: FOURTEEN (14) MONTHS OF ASSESSMENT OF BAD LEADERSHIP

It marks a disappointing milestone since when  Dauda Lawal took office, promising change and progress especially in the security sector. But unfortunately, his 14 months on the throne has been marred by insecurity, incompetence, corruption and a blatant disregard for the welfare of our citizens.

Security:

The government's inability to address the rising insecurity has led to a surge in banditry, kidnapping and other criminal activities leaving our citizens feeling unsafe and vulnerable. His inaction has emboldened criminals, causing avoidable loss of lives and properties. Government  lackadaisical attitude towards the security made most of villages empty ravaged by bandits.

Healthcare Crisis:

The government's neglect of our healthcare system has resulted in a severe shortage of medical personnel, equipments and facilities. Zamfarawa  are forced to seek medical attention in the neighbouring states causing unnecessary suffering and higher mortality rate of pregnant women and children. With highest insecurity in the state, no single state-owned hospital that can treat a simple gun shot in the whole state. Many medical doctors left the state due to unbearable monthly salary and continuous unnecessary deductions from their salaries.

Corruption and Nepotism:

The government's corruption and nepotism have reached unprecedented levels, with officials embezzling funds meant for critical projects and appointing unqualified cronies to key positions. Their disregard for accountability and transparency has eroded trust in government institutions. There are a lot of allegations of funds siphoning means for project from most of the government cabinets  to their personal accounts.

Economic Mismanagement:

It is hardly for the Governor to stay for a very good week in the state, using public money means for projects for local and foreign trips which added nothing to the development of the state. Unemployment has skyrocketed, with no tangible job creation initiatives in sight. The once-thriving industries like textile , Ginneries and other companies in the state that he promised to revive during his campaign have been neglected, causing closures and layoffs of some active ones.

Education in Shambles:

Due to higher insecurity rise in the state, parents have to pullout their children from schools as a result of government inability to secure these schools. Illiteracy rate is at its peak in the state. The government's lack of investment in education has led to a decline in the quality of our schools, causing our children to suffer. The shortage of qualified teachers, inadequate infrastructure, and outdated curricula have condemned our future generations to mediocrity.

Agriculture:

The state government has zero commitment to the agricultural sector in the state despite the state slogan is 'Home of Farming and Shari'a'. It is the tradition of the previous governments to buy fertilizer and improved seed varieties and sell it to farmers at the subsidized rate but the present government lack political will to do so, this also contributed to the hunger in the state.

Conclusion

Dauda Lawal's 14 months in power has been a resounding failure. His incompetence, corruption, and neglect have caused immeasurable rise of insecurity and suffering in the state. As indigene of Zamfara State, we demand better. We urge the government to take responsibility for its actions and stop blaming games, address these pressing issues, and work towards a better future for our Zamfara State.
