DANSADAU EMIRATE: THE FORGOTTEN KINGDOM
Dansadau is a town located at 100 kilometres the south of Gusau, the capital city of Zamfara state. It shares border with Kebbi State at the west, Kaduna state at the south and east and some part of Katsina at the east. Dansadau emirate consist five district, these includes; Dansadau, Dangulbi, Dankurmi, Bindin and Kuyambana respectively.
Most of the people that are living in these five districts are predominantly farmers and businessmen while small population among them are civil servants.
God blessed Dansadau emirate with abundant and fertile land suitable for farming of variety of crops during both rainy and dry seasons added to available mineral resources which consist gold, iron, tantalite, copper, e.t.c. It was once said if Zamfara state government can utilize these resources, it can sustain the state without waiting for Federal Government statutory
allocation.
Dansadau emirate is heavily populated that's why it is politically relevant in Zamfara state elections . Election conducted in Zamfara central cannot be said won until Dansadau emirate result is out.
This blessed kingdom produces influential person in the history of then Sokoto (now Zamfara) states and Nigerian's politics. This is no other person than Senator Sa'idu Muhammad Dansadau.
Considering the political impact of this great kingdom, after 2011 general elections, people from this emirate have high hope that government will come to their aid and bring developmental projects to the emirate which government failed to. Dilapidated schools, Hospitals, lack of good water supply, bad roads and lack of electricity, e.t.c.
Despite the emirate being neglected, the security situation is always deteriorating. Arm bandits/cattle rustlers are attacking villages and towns, killing people, carting away their properties, kidnapping their women, children and destroying their farms. Unfortunately, government take no action to curtail the situation.
Right now, farmers can no longer have access to their farms for the harvest. The road from the state capital leading to the town is a death trap. You can spend four to seven days on journey of 100 kilometers, this is as a result of insecurity. Over three years now commuters cannot ply the road without escort of security personnel with heavy weapons.
We are calling for the appropriate authority to do the needful and delve the insecurity situation in the Emirate and also find the lasting solution of the menace.
