His Excellency, Zamfara State Executive Governor, Hon Dr. Bello Mohammed MON (Matawallen Maradun )has expressed confidence in the current Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Usman Nagogo especially in the commissioner's  drive to make the state free from all forms of banditry and criminality. Matawalle made his feelings known today at the Government House while receiving firearms voluntarily surrendered by two repentant bandits, Sani Mochoko and Alhaji Shehu Bagewaye who in the past had terrorized communities in the state but have now come to join hands with the state government following the governor's peace and reconciliation initiative. GOVERNMENT AND MEDIA:SHOWCASING A PARTNERSHIP IN ZAMFARA

Image
By Yusuf Idris Gusau  Is the media a willing tool in the hands of anarchists or an innocent arbiter between feuding political interests? Much as there are many ways to find out how, the task is not as easy as it seems. Needless to say, to us the media is part owner of a peaceful and tranquil Zamfara State. We are proud of its contributions so far. Oftentimes, finding and disseminating the facts, and truthfulness of those facts, can appear difficult especially with our polarized political firmament, wild guesses and conjectures do take the front burner to our chagrin. How do we then make an informed analysis especially in situations of insecurity as obtained in today's Zamfara? That is what the government of Zamfara State is grappling with at the moment, as it is confronted with political actors who lost relevance but are trying hard to fuel the fires of discontent through the media, that could lead to conflicts, injuries and even deaths. We make haste to say the media out...

ABDULAZEEZ YARI AND HIS BLIND POLITICAL FOLLOWERS

Image
By Mohammed Kabir Whenever I came across some write-ups by the opposition party in Zamfara State, I find it difficult to understand if they really know what's politics and role playing as an opposition. Just recently, Governor Bello Matawalle issued a warning to his former that if he step in Zamfara and it happens there is any attack on any community, he ( the governor) will lead security men to arrest him. Before his statement, The governor stated many reasons that made him to take that decision. He noticed that whenever Abdulazeez Yari pay any visit to Zamfara state, there must be an attack on village or villages where scores will be killed, and literally it is something to look at. Why bandits attack whenever he visit the state? To my surprise, I came across some write-ups by his blind followers that sees him as demi-god trying to encouter Governor Matawalle's statement and warning to Abdulazeez Yari without any constructive or valid point. As an opposition, y...

In fact, if need be, I will lead the arrest myself in his village of Talata-Mafara and I am not joking" , Governor Matawalle warned. Governor Bello Muhammad observed that this was the third time there was major breach of peace only when the former Governor is on a visit to the state. Facts that led to the downfall of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara state during the 2019 general elections have began to emerge as the first civilian governor of the state, Senator Ahmed Sani (Yariman Bakura) puts the blames on ex-governor Abdul’Aziz Yari Abubakar’s high headedness and disrespect for party rules and regulations. Yarima who came to global prominence after the introduction of Shari’ah legal system in Zamfara state, chided the the ex- Chairman Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) for all the calamity that befell the former ruling party in the state.
